Welcome to the Downing Band Website!!! Thank you for checking out the Downing Band Website, especially if you are a 5th grade student or parent interested in being a part of the Downing Band. Congratulations on another terrific year. Have a fun and restful summer. Don’t forget to practice your instrument regularly. :-) Music and Arts Instrument Return If your child is not continuing in the band next year and you are renting their instrument from Music and Arts, you need to return the instrument to Music and Arts. Do not leave your child’s rented instrument at school for Music and Arts to pick up. You will be charged for the instrument for the entire summer. If your child has a school-owned instrument, that should be left at school. Summer Private Lessons!!! Private lesson are a great way to keep your band kid practicing and improving over the summer. Lessons will be held on Wednesdays at Marcus High School. Information will be sent home in a few weeks regarding summer lessons. DMS Lesson Teacher Roster Instrument Upgrades!!! DMS Upgrades Letter DMS Approved Instrument List Music & Arts Center of Lewisville Summer Band Camps!!! There are many great summer band camps available in our state for middle school and high school students. Most are at great universities and offer a terrific week of playing and performing for your young band student. It is a great way to keep them going over the summer and encourage them to continue improving while they are away from the band here at Downing. We are very proud of the students and their final concert performance for the year. The groups performed extremely well at the Downing Band Spring Concert held at Marcus High School this past Wednesday. Way to Go Downing Band!!! Congratulations to the Downing Bands for great performances at the Beach Within Reach Band Festival!!! All of the groups performed well and represented Downing in an excellent manner. All groups received all superior ratings from the judges (the highest rating you can get.) In addition, the Concert Band received a “Runner-up” Award in their classification. Congratulations to Ms. Pritchard and the Concert Band!!! Finally, the Symphonic Band won the “Best in Class” Award in their division and also receive a “Grand Champion” Award for winning best overall in their classification.
